Housekeeping roles are not expressly named in the Skills Pass FAQ's exclusions. This guide explains how to confirm your duties with Skills Pass.
Overview
It is not clear. Housekeeping is not on the official occupation list, and it is not on the list of excluded jobs either. Cleaners are excluded, but room attendants and housekeepers are not named. Ask Skills Pass before you register or pay.
Check before you register or pay
If your employer says you need the Skills Pass, email info@skillspass.org.mt with your job description and ask whether your job and workplace are covered.
Common questions
Do hotel room attendants need the Malta Skills Pass?
Not clear. Room attendants are not on the excluded-jobs list, which is not complete. They are not on the occupation list either, but there is an "Other" option. Email info@skillspass.org.mt with your duties and ask.
Is housekeeping different from general cleaning for Skills Pass purposes?
No official page says. Cleaners are excluded. Housekeepers are not named, and the FAQ does not say whether they count as cleaners. Ask Skills Pass about your real duties. See the cleaner and housekeeper page for the cleaner exclusion.
My housekeeping role also covers some front-desk or guest-service duties — does that change things?
It might. There is no official rule for mixed jobs. Describe all your duties to Skills Pass and ask which occupation applies, or whether you are excluded, before you register.
If housekeeping is not covered, do I still need anything for my permit?
Possibly the Pre-Departure Course. It is a separate requirement from the Skills Pass. A first-time Single Permit applicant may still need it, even if their job does not need the Skills Pass. See maltapredeparturecourse.org.
